Pale pink gathered lampshades in hand-loomed cotton handmade in Assam, northern India. The Tata Trust set up a project to develop and support women’s traditional hand-loom weaving skills in the region. These beautiful lampshades were commissioned by our supplier, Samarkand Design.

The Lowdown

Elegant, tapered shades in larger sizes work well with slim-necked lamp bases such as ceramic, Asian-inspired shapes, bottle or urn silhouettes such as this turned wood, Pooky ‘Verona’ style. We sometimes pair these pretty lampshades with a simple, white metal pole lamp base from Nordic Nest for a more contemporary feel. Mini shades (15-18cm base diameters) are clip-on.

Small shades (25-35cm base diameters) come with a fixed E27 fitting.

Larger lampshades (40-50cm base diameters) have a duplex fitting designed to go on a shade carrier from 5″ – 7″, depending on how high you would like the lampshade to sit on your lamp base. Please note which size shade carrier you require – 5″, 6″ or 7″ – in the notes at checkout.
