The Product: Dutch blue and white small vase
This chic, petite flower vase, inspired by vintage Dutch tulip vases, is ideal for your guest bedroom. Welcome visitors with a pretty posy from the garden. Or go ‘heritage’, with a spray of multi-coloured tulips. The vase is simple to use for easy flower arranging because of the individual spouts. It is also cost-effective due to the way in which blowsy blooms quickly cover the display area. A glossy, small, blue and white ceramic vase with a traditional, Delft-inspired design, that offers a fresh, quirky addition to any styled vignette or table display.
The Lowdown
Dutch tulip vases came into their own during The Netherlands ‘Tulipmania’ of the 1630s. The ‘exotic’ Turkish blooms were greatly prized and sold individually for vast sums. Cut specimens were showcased in the individual spouts of towering, stackable tulip vases or ‘pyramids’, while the showpieces themselves decorated the hearths and tables of wealthy, Dutch nobles. Furthermore, tulips gained a role in Dutch floral still life art. Head to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam to see incredible examples of both pottery and paintings.
Styling Ideas? Dutch Delft-style blue and white small vase
This vase is a ‘go-anywhere’ piece. It would make a great addition to a guest bedroom, garden room or conservatory. It would work equally well on shelves or as part of a sideboard display. Or perhaps to ‘bookend’ a mantlepiece – matching pair anyone? Above all, the neat dimensions of this small blue and white vase make it eminently portable. In contrast, check out our larger Dutch-inspired tulip vase – a definite ‘conversation-starter,’ or our rectangular ‘Flowerbrick’ for ‘wow’ factor sideboards and dining tables. And if your house guests appreciate their floral welcome, similarly, this vase makes a great choice as a hostess or ‘moving-in’ gift.

This is such an unusual vase, and a real eye-catcher. It’s a good size, too. Not just for tulips.
