The Product: Green bib necklace handmade from vintage textiles
This quirky, green bib necklace is one of a selection of handmade jewellery finds we sourced from a brilliant creative at an antiques & vintage fair in beautiful Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital. We love its heritage textile element, striking green hue and elegant and unusual form.
The Lowdown
This collection of jewellery was handmade from vintage, embroidered textile remnants, each unearthed by the jewellery maker from across her Slovenian homeland. Slovenia is well known for its embroidered-textile heritage. Such patterns recall the European Folk style. The look encompasses the historic and decorative paintings that embellish the interior and exterior of buildings as well as embroidery and stitching adorning traditional folk costumes throughout the European continent and particularly, Central & Eastern Europe. Indeed we’ve devoted an entire board to this endlessly pretty aesthetic. Hop across to our Pinterest page here for more interior & pattern inspiration…
How to style your green bib necklace?
Although the necklace has Folk and Bohemian vibes, I’d juxtapose the rustic, handmade styling with a structural shirt, suit or dress for daytime workwear. However, the necklace would work equally well with cosy, plain knits and casual weekend outfits. For more destination-inspired jewellery designs, head to our globally-inspired Jewellery page here.
The Detail
The folk pattern, embroidered, bib necklace can be adjusted to your desired length by sliding a single bead up and down the ribbon. At its longest, the necklace measures approximately 45cm from the fastening to the very bottom of the necklace and 24cm at its shortest – the latter would be more of a collar-style necklace. The necklace measures approximately 13cm at its widest point.
