This website is operated by Designs By Origin. Throughout the site, the terms “we”, “us”, “DBO”, “the company” and “our” refer to the business Designs By Origin. Designs By Origin offers it’s online platform or application, the website found at www.designsbyorigin.com including all information, tools and services available from this site to you, the user, conditioned upon your acceptance of all terms, conditions, policies and notices stated here. The use of the words ‘the user’ or ‘the customer’ (and the correlating use of the words ‘you’ or ‘they’) within these terms refer to both visitors to our site and purchasers of goods from our website.
Any new features or tools that are added to the current store shall also be subject to the Terms of Service. You can review the most current version of the Terms of Service at any time on this page. We reserve the right to update, change or replace any part of these Terms of Service by posting updates and/or changes to our website. It is your responsibility to check this page periodically for changes. Your continued use of or access to the website following the posting of any changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.

Our store is hosted by Code 23 who provide us with the online e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you.
SECTION 1 – ONLINE STORE TERMS
By agreeing to these Terms and to be eligible to purchase our products via this website and thereby enter into a contract with Telescope Style, you represent that you, the user/customer, is over 18 years of age.
Please note we are an online interiors brand selling home wares to private individuals. Our products are intended for use in a domestic environment only and are not certified for ‘contract’ use in a commercial environment. If used for commercial purposes, product longevity is not guaranteed and our returns policy becomes null and void.
You understand that your content (not including credit card information), may be transferred unencrypted and involve (a) transmissions over various networks; and (b) changes to conform and adapt to technical requirements of connecting networks or devices. (Credit card information is always encrypted during transfer over networks – see ‘Security’ section below for further details).
You may not use our products for any illegal or unauthorized purpose nor may you, in the use of the Service, violate any laws in your jurisdiction (including but not limited to copyright laws).
You must not transmit any worms or viruses or any code of a destructive nature.
You agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any portion of the Service, use of the Service, or access to the Service or any contact on the website through which the service is provided, without express written permission by us (see ‘Copyright’ section below for further details).
A breach or violation of any of the Terms will result in an immediate termination of your Services.

We reserve the right to modify the contents of this site at any time, but we have no obligation to update any information on our site. You agree that it is your responsibility to monitor changes to our site.

Occasionally there may be information on our site or in the Service that contains typographical errors, inaccuracies or omissions that may relate to product descriptions, pricing, promotions, offers, product shipping charges, transit times and availability. We reserve the right to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions, and to change or update information or cancel orders if any information in the Service or on any related website is inaccurate at any time without prior notice (including after you have submitted your order).
We undertake no obligation to update, amend or clarify information in the Service or on any related website, including without limitation, pricing information, except as required by law. No specified update or refresh date applied in the Service or on any related website, should be taken to indicate that all information in the Service or on any related website has been modified or updated.
SECTION 6 – PRODUCTS / SERVICES
All items are subject to availability. Products or services may have limited quantities and/or sell out between the time a customer places his/her order and the time Telescope Style attempts to fulfil it. At busy times of the year, stock may have limited availability or sell out quickly. Out of stock items are automatically removed from the website until they become available again. If something you have recently seen is no longer displaying on the website, please contact us by telephone or email, if you wish query a product’s availability or be notified of the date the product is likely to be back in stock. Please note some products are ‘made to order’ with lead times to despatch stated under the ‘Delivery Options’ tab on the individual product pages.
We reserve the right to discontinue or permanently withdraw any products from this website at any time and we will not be liable to you or any third party in doing so. We also reserve the right, but are not obligated, to limit the sales of our products or Services to any person, geographic region or jurisdiction. We may exercise this right on a case-by-case basis. In addition, we reserve the right to limit the quantities of any products or services that we offer. Any offer for any product or service made on this site is void where prohibited.
Product Imagery, Pricing & Description
All descriptions of products and product pricing are subject to change at anytime without notice and at our sole discretion. All published retail prices are in pounds sterling and exclude all delivery charges (where relevant). We reserve the right to alter product prices/descriptions at any time and without notice. Occasionally and despite our best efforts, a product may be incorrectly priced or described online. We endeavour to check price paid/description given, before confirming despatch and we reserve the right to correct any product pricing/description inaccuracies, at any time. Should the correct price be lower that that advertised on the date you ordered, we will inform you and apply the lower price (refunding you the difference). Should the correct price be higher than that advertised on the date you ordered or the product description be incorrect, we will advise you of this by telephone and/or email and await your instructions. In the event of any pricing/description discrepancies that come to light once their order has been placed, customers will be entitled to a refund of the relevant amount if they do not wish to proceed with part or all of their order.
We have made every effort to ensure that our product imagery and colours are truly representative of the products themselves. However, many of our products are handmade from natural materials using traditional techniques and the individual nature of the craftsmanship involved in creating these items will sometimes imply slight variations in colour, weight, size or dimension or minor imperfections. In addition different digital device’s rendering/display of colours may also vary, meaning that products may differ slightly from website photography when viewed on your mobile/tablet/computer.
If you receive goods that do not broadly meet the description stated on the website at the time you placed your order, you will be entitled to a full refund. Please return the goods to us, following our standard returns procedure as detailed below or on our Ordering, Delivery & Returns page.
SECTION 7 – ORDERS & ACCURACY OF BILLING AND ACCOUNT INFORMATION
Telescope Style is an online-only e-commerce platform. Goods must be paid for in full online, prior to despatch. Your order total includes the cost of the items and any delivery charges.
To be eligible to purchase our products via this website and thereby enter into a contract with Telescope Style, customers must be over 18 years of age and possess a valid credit or debit card in your name from a bank whose payments Telescope Style accepts. We accept a range of credit and debit cards including Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Payments are securely processed via Stripe or Paypal payment gateways. Please see our Privacy & Security page or read on to view our section on Buying Online & E-Commerce Security, for further details.
Telescope Style also requires customers to input their real name, email address, contact telephone number, payment details and delivery address (hotels, temporary addresses and P.O. Box numbers cannot be used) in order for us to process their order. Customers/users agree to provide current, complete and accurate purchase and account information for all purchases made online. You agree to promptly update your account and other information, including your email address and credit card numbers and expiration dates, so that we can complete your transactions and contact you as needed.
Placing An Order
Following receipt of a customer’s order, they will receive an order confirmation email and be assigned an order number. Customers should quote this in any communication with Telescope Style. Customers should let us know if they do not receive an order confirmation email, so we can double check their order has been received by us.
The email confirmation is only a confirmation that we have received a customer’s order/payment. Products on a multiple order that we have not specifically confirmed as having been accepted by way of despatch confirmation, do not form part of our contract with you. Please note products may sell out between the time a customer places his/her order and the time Telescope Style attempts to fulfil it. If this does happen we will contact the customer within 3 days with an alternative item or refund their money. Telescope Style reserves the right to contact customers by phone and/or email should there be any unexpected problem or delay with their order, including but not limited to stock availability, pricing or product description error, or any other supply-related issue. We will inform customers by telephone or email at the earliest opportunity if the goods they have ordered are delayed or unavailable, stating the likely lead time and/or revised delivery date (where relevant) as well as giving them the option of a partial or full refund (depending on the order affected), should they so request.
Card issuers validate and authorise payments. If the card issuer fails, for any reason, to authorise a customer’s payment, we will not be liable. Should there be any problem with a customer’s card payment, we will be unable to fulfil their order and will contact them by telephone or email to advise them of this.
Customers own the goods once Telescope Style has received payment in full.
If for any reason a customer wishes to edit or cancel an order, they should notify us immediately either by telephone or email. If the product has already shipped, customers will need to instruct a return in the normal way to obtain their refund (see below) but they will be liable for outbound and return shipping costs.
Orders placed on weekends or public holidays will be processed during the next business day. Orders placed after 1pm GMT on business days will begin processing on the following business day. Our suppliers endeavour to dispatch in stock items within one working day of your order being placed, however during busier periods this may take longer.
Customers will receive a further confirmation email/s, once their goods have been despatched. The contract between the customer and Telescope Style is completed once their goods have been despatched and delivered.
Telescope Style cannot be held responsible for postage/shipping delays outside of our control, such as bad weather or postal strikes. However, customers should contact us as soon as possible if they have not received their complete order within the stated delivery window and we will endeavour to assist, in order to track down their goods. In the event of a substantial delay, customers are entitled to end the contract and receive a refund for any items that they have paid for and not received.
Telescope Style reserves the right to refuse at any time and for any reason to process any transaction or order you place with us at our sole discretion. We may, at our sole discretion, limit or cancel quantities purchased per person, per household or per order. These restrictions may include orders placed by or under the same customer account, the same credit card, and/or orders that use the same billing and/or shipping address. In the event that we make a change to or cancel an order, we may attempt to notify you by contacting the e-mail and/or billing address/telephone number provided at the time the order was made. We reserve the right to limit or prohibit orders that, in our sole judgment, appear to be placed by dealers, resellers or distributors.
Discount codes and other promotional offers are valid for a limited time period, for one use only, per person, per order and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. Our full terms & conditions apply to all promotions. Promotional/discount codes will only be valid if all terms are met. Any additional terms & conditions related to specific/current offers, promotions or competitions, will be stated on this page and on the email sent to you containing the promotion. Please also refer to our Ordering, Delivery & Returns page and the ‘Delivery Options’ tab on the relevant product pages for relevant information before placing your order.
To redeem promotional/discount codes you must be a registered customer (private consumers only – promotional/discount codes will be invalid for all business/trade customers) and logged in to your account. To obtain your discount/redeem your offer, please enter the relevant promotional code at checkout. A message will appear on the checkout page either confirming your code has been applied or that your order has not qualified for the terms of the code and is therefore invalid.
If you take advantage of a promotional code, any reduction is applied only to the price of the product/s, not the delivery cost. There is no cash alternative and no change or credit is given on orders placed using a promotional code. Minimum spend thresholds (if relevant) refer to the order subtotal, exclusive of any delivery charges. Promotional codes are not valid for sale items. Discount codes cannot be retrospectively applied once an order has been placed. Only promotional codes issued by Telescope Style will be accepted on this website. If products related to an offer or discount are returned, the refund will be equal to the price paid for that product by the customer, subject to the general refund terms & conditions listed below and on the Ordering, Delivery & Returns page, being met.
Telescope Style reserves the right to decline orders where we reasonably believe a promotional code is invalid for the order being placed or is the subject of fraudulent activity. Telescope Style reserves the right to withdraw a promotion at any time without notice.
If you believe your order qualifies for a promotion but are having trouble applying the code online, please contact us by telephone (during working hours) or send an email and we shall assist.
SECTION 8 – DELIVERY
Product Specific Information
In addition to the general delivery windows stated below and the information contained within our Ordering, Delivery & Returns page, please refer to the ‘Delivery Options’ tab on the relevant product page for delivery information specific to your product.
Flat rate delivery charges for each of the regions we serve, are applied on a per order basis. If you order multiple items within a single order, only one delivery charge will be applied to the total, according to your delivery region. We currently deliver most products to the countries and regions listed below within the following timescales.

*Exceptions to ‘UK delivery without any additional charge’, include UK offshore (see separate delivery charge stated above), expedited delivery (if this is an option for your chosen item/s) and delivery of non-standard products (i.e. products that are considered to be extremely fragile, high value, large, heavy, or something that has exceptional delivery requirements). Non-standard products may require a specialist courier service. If your product falls within this category, this will be stated on the relevant product page under the ‘Delivery Options’ tab and you may need to call us directly to request a shipping quote. Longer lead times may also apply. At present, we are unable to deliver certain floor and table lamps to mainland US/Canada. If this is the case, it will be noted under the ‘Delivery Options’ tab on the relevant product page.
Mainland UK delivery includes England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland. UK offshore regions include Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. European countries we currently serve are: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland. Whilst customs duties or import/sales taxes are not applied on items sold to residents of EU member states, duties and additional taxes (i.e. import VAT) may be payable on packages delivered to countries outside this economic area (N.B. some of the European countries we serve are not EU member states). In such cases, customers are responsible for the payment of any such duties and taxes which may become payable on entry to the relevant country, prior to delivery of goods to their end destination.
We do not currently routinely offer goods for sale to addresses outside of: the United Kingdom; the European countries listed above; mainland United States; and, Canada. Serious shoppers based outside of these areas, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for individual, tailored shipping quotes. We will endeavour to source the best possible shipping solutions and rates to meet your needs.
Method of Despatch
Most products are dispatched direct from our suppliers. Some items are despatched by Telescope Style direct.
Orders are delivered by Royal Mail or by parcel courier. Some larger items may require specialist carriers (this will be detailed under the ‘Delivery Options’ tab on the relevant product page). Shipping times can therefore vary within the above time frames, and orders containing more than one product may arrive in multiple packages, at different times.
Depending on the despatch method, customers may receive further delivery updates from our supplier’s third party courier service by text, telephone or email. All items require a signature on delivery. If the customer misses a delivery, the relevant courier company will either attempt re-delivery on a consecutive day, contact you directly to arrange re-delivery or leave a note asking you to call to arrange re-delivery. If re-delivery is unsuccessful and the item is returned back to us/our supplier, we may need to charge you, in order to instruct a new delivery.
Occasionally, unavoidable factors can delay a parcel (for example, bad weather or postal strikes). Should an item become substantially delayed or unavailable after purchase, we will notify the customer by email at the earliest opportunity, stating the likely lead time and/or revised delivery date as well as offering the option of a partial or full refund.
Receipt of Goods
Each of our suppliers takes great care when wrapping and packing items to ensure safe transport. We nevertheless strongly encourage customers to inspect items immediately on receipt and retain the packaging until they decide they are happy with the product. In the unlikely and unfortunate event that there are discrepancies, that damage has occurred in transit or you discover any defects on receipt of an item or items, customers should notify us immediately and no later than 3 days after your delivery date either by telephone on 01753 384 295 Monday to Friday 9.30am to 5.30pm or by email at email@example.com providing a brief description of the issue and stating DAMAGED/FAULTY in the subject field if emailing. We also request photographic evidence to verify any breakages/defects. See our Damaged/Faulty items section below for more details.
Customers become responsible for the goods on receipt of the goods at the address provided by them to us, during the online purchase process.
SECTION 9 – RETURNS
Customers are entitled to notify us of their intention to cancel their purchase contract with us at any time within 14 days of receipt of their goods. If your order arrives in multiple packages, this 14 day period commences after the last package is confirmed delivered. All returns queries/correspondence are handled solely by Telescope Style. Specific returns circumstances are detailed below.
Unwanted Items: Mainland UK Customers
Customers should notify Telescope Style directly by email within 14 days of receipt of their order, stating RETURN in the email subject field and listing the items they wish to return along with the relevant order number.
Customers will then receive an email with a returns form to print out, complete and enclose with their returns package and a pre-paid returns postage label for the Collect+ or DPD network of shops or local Post Office branch, depending on the most cost effective option for the item/size of package being returned and the drop point’s proximity to the customer’s address.
Please note customers are liable for the returns shipping cost and this will be deducted from their refund, once accepted by Telescope Style (see below).
Pre-paid return shipping labels generated for UK returns are charged as per the charges to Telescope Style by the relevant courier service, up to a maximum of £10 (or whichever is the lesser). The relevant amount will be deducted from the customer’s refund.
Customers then have a further 14 days to return the item to Telescope Style in it’s original packaging (this ensures Telescope Style generates the correct returns label) and in a fully re-saleable condition. Telescope Style cannot accept responsibility for items that are lost or damaged in transit (see below). Customers should take their labelled returns packages to the nearest relevant drop off point within seven days of receipt of the returns label.
Mainland UK based customers wishing to return a non-standard product should contact Telescope Style directly (e.g. an extremely fragile, high value, large, or heavy items or one that has exceptional delivery requirements and is listed as such under the ‘Delivery Options’ tab of the relevant product page on this website) as this may require a tailored returns shipping solution i.e. collection via a specialist courier service. Collection time slots will be booked for the first available date and within three weeks. Unfortunately, we are currently able to offer a returns collection service for non-standard products only and from UK addresses only. Returns of this nature will be charged at a flat rate of £30. This amount will be deducted from the customer’s refund.
You will be notified by email once your return has been received and inspected. If your refund is agreed and processed, the original cost of your returned item/s, minus the return shipping label cost, will be refunded via your original payment method.
Unwanted Items : Customers Outside Mainland UK
Customers should notify us within 14 days of receipt of their order, stating RETURN in the email subject field and listing the items they wish to return along with their relevant order number. Customers will then receive an email with a returns form to print out, complete and enclose with your returns package. They then have a further 14 days to arrange, pay for and despatch their unwanted items back to us at the address below. Please note that customers outside of mainland UK will have to bear the direct cost of returning the product/s (including non-standard products). We recommend they use an insured, recorded, tracked and signed-for delivery service with proof of postage (keep the receipt!), as Telescope Style cannot accept responsibility for items that are lost or damaged in transit. For returns coming from outside of EU countries, any customs duties or import/sales taxes incurred on the outbound delivery are non-refundable through us. In addition, any customs duties or import/sales taxes incurred by the return shipping are also the responsibility of the customer and, if paid by us, will be deducted from their refund.
Customers will be notified by email once their return has been received and inspected. If the refund is agreed and processed, the original cost of the returned item/s, will be refunded via the customer’s original payment method.
All unwanted items must be returned fully re-saleable in their original, unused condition and in their original packaging. Unopened rolls of wallpaper can be returned, however rolls that have been opened are not eligible for return or refund. Customers are liable for any diminished value resulting from the handling of a product in any way other than what is necessary to establish the look and functioning of the product while in your care (this includes the transit of goods back to us by whatever means). Returns that arrive damaged, soiled, without their original labels and packaging or are received after the 28 day cooling off period, will not be accepted and customers may still be liable for the pre-paid returns label shipping costs (UK customers) or any customs duties or import taxes we may have paid (non-UK customers).

Customers should wait until after you have spoken with us to return, destroy or dispose of damaged or faulty goods, to ensure this does not negate any potential refund entitlement.
Upon receipt of the customer’s email, we will advise on next steps as regards return, refund, repair or replacement, depending on the product type, the circumstances and their preference. Product refunds for goods that we have agreed are damaged/defective will include both outbound shipping cost incurred by the customer on the original sale (for all countries Telescope Style serves) and, if relevant/borne by the customer, the returns shipping cost. Customs duties and import/sales taxes incurred on the original outbound shipping to non-EU customers are non-refundable through us however. In addition, customers are also responsible for any further customs duties or import/sales taxes payable should they choose to return the damaged/defective items. If paid by us, the customer will be liable and these costs will be deducted from the refund.
Please allow 5-10 working days for all refunds to be processed after email confirmation of receipt and acceptance by Telescope Style. Often refunds take a little longer to appear on your bank statement. Telescope Style cannot be held liable for any interest charges incurred by you from your card’s issuing bank or exchange rate fluctuations and consequent loss of currency while you await your refund. Please take this into account before placing any order.
Unfortunately, we do not provide an exchange service. If you would like to exchange one item for another, you must first return the original item following the relevant procedure set out above and then place a new order. You will be refunded for the original item in accordance with our usual returns policy (as detailed above).

SECTION 10 – PERSONAL DETAILS, PRIVACY, SECURITY & COOKIES
Contacting Our Customers
Account Holder Details
Customers/users must keep their account holder details safe and confidential at all times. Customers/users must not disclose their confidential password or account details to any other persons/third party. Customers/users must notify us immediately by email at firstname.lastname@example.org if they suspect anyone other than themselves has obtained access to their confidential user account details or password. Telescope Style reserves the right to disable access to personal user accounts at any time should there be a failure to comply with Telescope Style’s Terms & Conditions.
Usage/Processing of Personal Data
- Personal Data collected for purposes related to the performance of a contract between the Owner and the User shall be retained until such contract has been fully performed e.g. the supply of products to customers.
- The Data concerning the User is collected to allow the Owner to provide its Services, as well as for the following purposes: Analytics; Managing contacts and sending messages; Handling payments; Contacting the User; and, Platform services and hosting.
- The Owner may be allowed to retain Personal Data for a longer period whenever the User has given consent to such processing, as long as such consent is not withdrawn e.g. direct marketing purposes by way of a regular newsletter. Furthermore, the Owner may be obliged to retain Personal Data for a longer period whenever required to do so for the performance of a legal obligation or upon order of an authority.
- Once the data retention period expires, Personal Data shall be deleted. Therefore, the right to access, the right to erasure, the right to rectification and the right to data portability cannot be enforced after expiration of the retention period.

Online card payments are processed by Stripe or Paypal.
Stripe Payments: Stripe is our integrated payment gateway for online card payments and is certified to PCI (Payment Card Industry) Service Provider Level 1 – the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. Stripe only operates over secure HTTPS connections (the protocol or set of rules and regulations by which data is transmitted between your browser and the website with which you are connected). This implies all communications between your browser and the website with which you are connected are encrypted. Sensitive information such as customer card numbers are securely encrypted and are transmitted directly to Stripe without passing through or being stored on our servers. In addition, if requested and where available from the authenticating bank, Stripe is enabled for 3D Secure in order to further authenticate payments. In this instance, the card-issuing bank assumes full responsibility for any subsequent fraudulent transactions. Customers will need to contact their issuing bank directly if they have any problems completing the 3D secure checkout process e.g. if they have forgotten the relevant security codes.
Paypal Payments: You can also pay for goods online via your Paypal account. Select this option at checkout and follow the prompts. Again, advanced encryption technology renders the Paypal platform secure. Sensitive financial information such as customer’s credit card numbers are transmitted directly to Paypal and not received by us. Please visit the Paypal website for further buyer security information. From time to time, if requested and where available from the authenticating bank, Paypal is also enabled for 3D Secure in order to further authenticate payments. If used for commercial purposes, product longevity is not guaranteed and our returns policy becomes null and void. We are not liable for business losses.
