The Product: Italianate patterned grey wallpaper ‘Majolica’ in Clay

Create an elegant ‘palazzo-style’ backdrop with ornate, patterned grey wallpaper. Reference the grandeur of formal, Italian interiors, but, keep it chic and contemporary with this warm grey ‘Clay’ colourway against a pale off-white ground.

The Lowdown

This block-printed wallpaper was created in-house at Rapture & Wright. Furthermore, the design was inspired by the wonderfully naive decoration on a piece of 15th Century, Italian, tin-glazed pottery.

How to style this Italianate, patterned grey wallpaper?

Certainly, in a muted colourway, the design provides a great backdrop for a chic, multi-layered, neutral scheme. Accent this with darker hues. Consequently, a velvet-upholstered, Chesterfield sofa in a steely, graphite grey (check out the ‘Varese’ velvets range at Designers Guild) would work well. Alternatively, apply this elegant paper to one wall. Meet the adjacent walls with a coordinating, darker paint. Finally, all-over patterns work brilliantly in smaller spaces. This patterned grey wallpaper comes untrimmed and is available by the metre, at £28 per metre (minimum order 5 metres).
