The Product: Webb’s Wonder lilac botanical wallpaper with Arts & Crafts design
A lilac botanical wallpaper with soft sage green accents showcasing plant specimens in a quintessentially English landscape. The gardens depicted surround a charming, Sussex, Arts & Crafts house, originally designed by the architect Philip Webb.
The Lowdown
The hand-printed wallpaper was created in-house at the Rapture & Wright studio. The print was the result of a restoration project at the house with which the design studio was involved. The pattern depicts the gables, chimneys and windows of the Arts & Crafts property surrounded by mature trees and distinctive flowering shrubs in a magical, garden setting.
How to style your lilac botanical wallpaper?
In this soft lilac and green colourway, the design lends itself to a contemporary white-on-white scheme. Firstly, soften and cosy up your space with textural layering. Hence a palette of creams and off-whites encompassing velvets, linens, silks and woollens. These might take the form of cushions, upholstery, rugs, drapes or throws. Secondly, ensure a directional, modern look by adding smart, clean-lined furniture to the mix. Perhaps some sleek, white tables from the likes of Heals, Designers Guild or Calligaris teamed with vintage, white-washed French or Scandinavian sofas upholstered in soft pale linens.
Lastly, accent the soft lilac pattern with muted green accents that tone with the darker green in the design. This might take the form of glazed pottery vases, painted vintage furniture or coloured glass accessories. Always layer textures to add sparkle, depth and interest.
Further, apply this elegant paper to just one end wall. In this case, meet the adjacent walls with a toning shade of lilac, perhaps a bit deeper and stronger than the paler shade in the wallpaper. This ensures the wallpaper is ’embraced’ by the adjacent walls. It stops it from feeling like an afterthought or a floating, slightly lost, feature wall. Remember too that bold pattern always looks twice as strong over large areas.
Finally, an all-over pattern also works brilliantly in smaller spaces such as a hallway or WC. It adds impact and helps conceal awkward curves and angles on ceilings. Gauge the scale of the design by checking out the styled shot shown in the Chartreuse colourway. Simply scroll the images.
