The Lowdown

This block-printed wallpaper was created in-house at the Rapture & Wright studio. Furthermore, the design was inspired by the wonderfully naive decoration on a piece of 15th Century, Italian, tin-glazed pottery.

How to style this burnt orange wallpaper?

In this rich, autumnal colourway, the design provides a brilliant foil for an elegant white-on-white scheme. First of all, soften and cosy up your space with textural layering. Hence, we’re thinking of a palette of creams and off-whites encompassing velvets, linens, silks and woollens. These might take the form of cushions, upholstery, rugs, drapes or throws. Finally, ensure a fresh, directional look by adding smart, clean-lined furniture to the mix. Maybe a contemporary sofa much like the ‘Clara’ in a toning, burnt-orange velvet from fab upholstery company Arlo & Jacob.

In contrast, liven up the burnt orange pattern with vibrant accents. Cool, contrasting hues such as teal and turquoise would work well. Likewise, layer textures to add depth.

Further, apply this elegant paper to just one end wall. In which case, meet the adjacent walls with an enveloping, terracotta or persimmon-hued paint. This would imbue the space with real warmth and intimacy. This is a great trick in a large, north-facing room suited to all-over patterns. Warm, advancing colours will help combat the cool light.
