The Product: ‘Flowerbrick’ blue and white rectangular vase
We were über excited to discover this unusual, rectangular vase. It represents a glorious, modern take on ‘Delft-pottery-style’ blue and white china and is inspired by the Rijksmuseum ceramics collection in Amsterdam. We simply had to buy up as many as we could when we were last in Amsterdam and bring them to your attention!
The Lowdown
First of all, for the doubters who think pretty china is old-fashioned and not cool, well hah! This rocks any modern tabletop. It’s all in the styling. Team traditional ceramic decoration with modern serve ware, elegant contemporary glassware and directional dining chairs for an eclectic table setting. Styling Ideas?
The slim, rectangular shape makes it a winner for hall consoles. It’s a definite conversation starter: ‘Gosh, where DID you get that gorgeous vase?!’ Furthermore, it also lends itself to sideboards, shelves and windowsills. Indulge your inner stylist and run a pair down the middle of a dinner table. Above all, keep the blooms low and wide (think blowsy peonies, ranunculus, and frothy foliage) and cover the display area without too much height. After all, you don’t want to obscure your dining companions! Alternatively, opt for height. Dot blooms with twiggy stems along the length of the vase to create a ‘mini-meadow’.
If you’re on the hunt for something with petite dimensions, look no further than our blue and white small vase. A subtle nod to Dutch design and the famous tulip vases. In contrast, our large tulip vase is more of a statement piece, decoratively painted with birds and flowers in an unusual, slim, ovoid shape.
The Detail
So – the detail. The ‘Flowerbrick’ vase is sturdy, quite heavy and sits on little ceramic bun-feet. It is fully glazed on the inside and holds plenty of water. Also, it is easy to clean, because it has a removable lid. It measures 12cmH x 28cmW x 10cmD.
