The Product: Large blue and white pot with Thai ‘swimming fish’ motif
A very elegant, large blue and white pot redolent of the Thai design aesthetic. The pot is handmade to an ancient design, yet would feel decidedly modern when styled within a sleek, contemporary space.
This large blue and white pot is an enduring classic when it comes to Asian ceramics. The pot hails from Thailand. A fact demonstrated by its distinctive, scrolling Thai motifs, ‘Bua’ or Lotus flower decoration and swimming fish design.
We’d showcase this particular example within modern, built-in, open shelving, on a low sideboard or atop sturdy a cupboard or armoire. Blue and white pottery pairs fabulously with wooden furniture. This pot could be the stand-out piece in a cool, nature-inspired scheme full of pale, natural woods and soft, earthy hues. Check out the range at Pinch Design to get a feel for what we mean. Alternatively, check out our TS Styles feature on the blog about grouping and displaying decorative blue and white pottery in a modern bathroom.
This ‘Swimming Fish’ pot is the only pot of this design we shipped back from Thailand from the family-run pottery in the countryside surrounding Chiangmai. It is therefore unique to our range. The pot measures 36cm high x 28cm in diameter. The pot is also quite heavy but we will ensure it is carefully wrapped and protected for transport.
