The Product: Red and green cushion with African circles print
We love this bold, red and green cushion with a concentric circles design. The design is inspired by West African cultural motifs. The red ‘Adire’ background is a reference to traditional Yoruba batik techniques. This African themed cushion is one of a range of cushions designed by textile designer Eva Sonaike. Its bold, almost ‘geometric’ motif, is punchy in its confident, red and green colouring.
The Lowdown
African design cushion covers, such this and others in our edit, add bold, bright colour and energy to their surroundings. The stylised motif and eye-catching colour combination will work as well on a vintage, leather Chesterfield as on stylish, modern upholstery shapes. Head to Love Your Home, Natuzzi or Bo Concept for a great selection of the latter.
Styling Ideas?
FIrst, it goes without saying that African print cushions speak of sunnier climes and lend themselves well to stylish, summer sofas. However, we also rather like the idea of juxtaposing this design with cosy, chunky-knit throws and cushions in a palette of pale, winter whites and neutrals too. Furthermore, bring a touch of African luxury to your space with a statement, matching pair.
Finally, never feel you must dress your sofa with scatter cushions to match the upholstery. Often, these are optional add-ons when buying a new sofa. Always, create an original look. Furthermore, assemble your own ‘cast of cushions’. Buy from different fabric houses. Create an ideal comfort level.
