The Product: Yellow Chinese motif wallpaper
A bold, new sunshine yellow and turquoise wallpaper by interior designer Fleur Ward of Ohh! Fleur wallpapers, ‘Fan of Junk’ offers strident colour and a whimsical take on historic, cultural symbols of Asia. Yellow Chinoiserie wallpaper depicting a sturdy, Chinese Junk in full sail and a delicate, decorative fan.
The Lowdown
The designer has juxtaposed function and frivolity whilst celebrating the aesthetic similarities of unfurled sails and a pleated fan. The English name ‘Junk’ comes from the Javanese word ‘Djong’ which translates as ‘ship’ or ‘large vessel’.
Styling Ideas?
When we first spied this wallpaper print at a trade fair, we were drawn to the modernity of the design and the pop culture colourways. Our hands-down favourite has to be this quirky yellow and turquoise option. It’s a brilliant choice for a cloakroom. It would simply have to cover every wall and possibly even the ceiling. It would also work well as a feature wall in an entrance hall. A vibrant ‘meet and greet’ for your guests. Or perhaps behind a dining room sideboard, where you could get creative and go glam with mirrors and reflections. For more Chinese-inspired homewares, head here.
