The Product: Colourful vintage floral cake stand by Booth’s pottery
We spied this colourful, vintage floral cake stand in a junk shop and its vibrant colours sung out amongst all the sugar-pink, rose-strewn china. It also makes a quirky and unexpected addition to our first ‘Vignette’ collection for a dining room colour scheme, inspired by framed Maasai beadwork – check out the page here. We love the idea of juxtaposing pretty, vintage florals with the bold geometrics of African handicrafts.
Styling Ideas?
A profusion of pretty blooms – the perfect backdrop for a tower of macarons at a tea party. Life’s too short not to eat the best cakes – at least as an occasional treat! This gorgeously colourful, antique cake stand, dating from the 1920s/1930s, is one way to present them.
The Detail
The cake stand is back-stamped ‘Booths’, a pottery operating in Tunstall from the late 19th century onwards, and the design is ‘The Pompadour’. Dimensions are approximately 16cm tall x 25cm in diameter. There is some subtle wear to the painted rim but the cake stand is in immaculate condition otherwise.
