A pair of handmade, Greek eagle design gold and silver earrings. These earrings form part of the ‘Treasures & Miracles’ collection by Athens-based, jewellery studio, Bijoux Bizarres. Gold-plated silver discs adorn an oxidised silver eagle. The messaging behind this Greek-heritage inspired range is have faith, think differently and treasures and miracles will reveal themselves. The eagle is an important symbol in Greek mythology. An emblem of Zeus and the sky Gods, it is thought to represent man’s connection with the divine, as the eagle flies higher than any other bird.

Bijoux Bizarres design and hand-make to order ‘mythical jewellery for real people’. They draw inspiration from Greek mythology, history and traditions by re-imagining heritage patterns as modern forms. Each modular motif in the collection is representative of an entire period or cultural movement within the history of the Mediterranean region. The quirkily named collections derive either from mythical Greek personas, stories or ornaments associated with them, or states of mind and emotions inspired by them. Extraordinary heroines from Greek mythology with attributes often associated with the Mediterranean soul. Love, strength, greatness, pride and, on occasion, contradiction, vanity and drama!

The hand-crafted pieces in this collection are created in limited numbers from an individual model that has been hand-hammered, using the ancient technique of repousée-on-pitch, to make it ‘perfectly imperfect.’ Hence, each subsequent casting is subtly unique.

The Detail

These gold and silver earrings are available as clips only. They are handmade in oxidised silver and gold-plated silver. Clips are sterling silver. They measure approximately 5cm in length. Sweat, perfume, cosmetics & soap can occasionally affect platings. Wash with toothpaste & dry with soft fabric when needed.
