The Product: Blue and white Delft ceramic vase
A diminutive, hand-painted, blue and white Delft ceramic bud vase depicting flowers and windmills. The vase is decorated in the traditional hues of Dutch Delftware and hails from The Netherlands.
The Lowdown
Dutch, tin-glazed earthenware is what Dutch Delftware or Delft Blue pottery is actually made from. The production of Dutch Delft began as early as the 16th century and spread across The Netherlands with the finest pieces being produced around the town of Delft between the mid-1600s and 1700s. The pottery was exported throughout Europe during these two centuries and continues to be produced to this day, albeit on a much smaller scale.
How to style your lidded pot?
Love a bud vase for its ease of use – just one bloom required – and cheery effect on a guest room bedside table. Failing that – add to your blue and white china collection; think culturally-inspired kitchen shelf décor, a cabinet filled with eclectic blue and white pots from around the globe or a romantic, weekend, breakfast-in-bed à deux (garden rose on the breakfast tray essential).
