The Product: Barbican art prints
Barbican art prints often focus on the austere drama of the prominent Brutalist building, but this architectural line drawing highlights the clean lines and repeating geometry of the iconic design. Chamberlin, Powell & Bon were the architects responsible for this Grade II listed development. Built in the 60s and 70s, the performing arts centre forms part of the Barbican Estate, an area that was heavily bombed in WWII. Once voted London’s Ugliest Building, the concrete ziggurat has a special place in the hearts of Londoners and architecture enthusiasts alike.
The Lowdown
A signed Giclée, these Barbican art prints are printed using the highest quality acid-free light-fast archival 300gsm Minuet Cotton Rag. The heavyweight etching board is velvety smooth with a fine surface texture and is one of the most widely used media worldwide for artwork and photography. Using pigment-based UltraChrome and Ultra Violet (UV) inks, the Giclée printing process ensures superior detail, colours and longevity. The print comes unframed and is delivered in a cardboard tube for you to take straight to your local framer.
Styling Ideas?
Need framing advice? We’d suggest a slim, white frame with subtly visible woodgrain and a white card mount, if you wish the frame to disappear – say, against a white wall – and the print to stand out. Equally as effective is the same style of frame in black – as here – also teamed with a white card mount, to outline the drawing and act like bold, precise punctuation! The third option would be to go for a softer, warmer effect with a natural or stained wooden mount. All three will work beautifully, depending on the backdrop, and the look you want to achieve.
